Get guidance for your concrete
New concrete, repaired areas and sealed decorative surfaces may have different care requirements. Keep the installation and product instructions available. Ask specifically about the first winter rather than applying habits from an older driveway.
Manage snow without damaging edges
Use appropriate equipment and avoid aggressive scraping at joints, raised transitions or vulnerable edges. Take care around damaged concrete that could catch a blade. The goal is safe access without creating additional surface damage.
Choose treatments carefully
Do not assume every deicer or cleaner is compatible with concrete or its sealer. Follow the applicable product and concrete-care instructions, including restrictions for new surfaces. More product is not automatically more effective or safer.
Look for recurring water
Ice that repeatedly forms in one spot may point to runoff or drainage that needs attention. Note the source and discuss it when planning repair or replacement. Surface treatment alone may not address the reason water is accumulating.
